ALI'S TRIP TO SRI LANKA | OCTOBER 2018 | Blog

..the highlights for me included climbing the Sigiriya Rock, which is an ancient rock fortress nearly 200 metres high; observing elephants in their natural environment; picking tea in the tea plantations and learning about all of the spices that are grown in the country; enjoying a traditional Sri Lankan curry lunch overlooking the paddy fields and lastly, visiting the turtle hatchery and rehabilitation centre.

Galle is a beautiful Fort town and it definitely worth spending the day here to explore the history and lovely shops.

We stayed at a different hotel each night and my favourite two were the Anantara Kalutara Resort and the Water Garden Sigiriya which has stunning views of Sigiriya Rock.

There are lots of different transport options available including the Viceroy Heritage Train which can be privatised for groups and covers a lot of the country.

I would certainly recommend Sri Lanka as a destination for an adventurous group wanting to see and experience lots. Personally, this amazing island is now firmly on my holiday wish list so that I can discover more of what it has to offer.
